The City of London is always developing the services we
offer so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have waste
streams not listed.
Our carefully selected partners will save you the time and
effort of having to look for a reputable supplier – as you can
trust our judgement – and the fact that the chosen companies have
been fully vetted and audited to guarantee your peace of mind. All
of the services are tailored to meet your needs and are
competitively priced.
Office Furniture Reuse & Recycling
If you have a large (or small) amount of reusable office
furniture then we can arrange for a local charity to collect the
items for a small fee. Green-Works is an award winning, leading
social enterprise and registered charity, that removes and thus
diverts surplus office furniture from landfill. By doing this they
are able to provide great value, high quality low cost second hand
furniture to new businesses, charities, school and community
groups. Any items not reused are fully recycled. If you are
interested in this service please
contact us .
Waste Cooking Oil Recycling
The City of London is now working in partnership with Proper
Oils to provide a waste cooking oil collection service. The oil
that is collected will be processed and turned into Biofuel. This
fuel will then be purchased by our contractor and used in the
running of the City's waste collection fleet of vehicles. To
arrange a collection service, please contact Proper Oils on 0845
470 8091 or email
freecollections@properoils.co.uk.
Electrical and Electronic Waste Disposal
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) cannot legally
be placed into your general waste or recycling collection
container. However, the City of London is working in partnership
with Electrolink (a compliance company) to collect and recycle (or
safely dispose) of any WEEE material. To arrange a collection of
electrical or electronic items, including fridges and freezers,
please
contact us.
Fluorescent Tube Recycling
The City of London is not allowed to collect fluorescent
tubes, but we do work in partnership with a specialist company –
Lampcare. They can provide a collection container and a adhoc
service within the square mile. For more information, or to arrange
a collection please call 01388 721000.
Clinical Waste Disposal
The City of London no longer provides a Commercial Clinical
Waste Collection Service. If you need to find a specialist
provider, please check with the Environment Agency for registered
providers or use Yellow Pages to find a provider. Always check with
the Environment Agency that the company is correctly
registered.
